Let’s give a big warm welcome to the Toddlewaddle Penguin Family! In case you missed the news, consider yourself to be part of the welcome wagon for the Toddlewaddles. This adorable family of penguins are joining the Honeysuckle Hollow community. This is a new adventure for the family.

As happy as they are to be part of things – change can sometimes be a bit scary. Kids Poppi and Lolli in particular are nervous about making new friends and fitting in at their new school.

“Lolli, I do not know how to make a friend,” Poppi worried aloud.

“Well it can’t be too hard,” Lolli replied in an upbeat tone.

Parents Paige and Wallis heard their two young penguins discussing the basics of friendship and decided to lend a hand.

“I find that kindness is the fastest route to friendship,” Wallis chimed in.

“Yes, there are so many ways to make a friend but the first rule – is to BE a friend!  Let’s go out into the neighborhood tomorrow and take a walk and I can show you,” said Paige.

That evening Lolli and Poppi whispered back and forth from their bunk beds excited for what the next day would bring. Who would they meet? What would they be like? And before they knew it, they were fast asleep. The next morning, they got up early and got ready to greet the day. When they arrived in their kitchen for breakfast, Paige and Wallis had prepared a large basket that sat on the counter. Inside were treats of all kinds from Antarctica, where they moved from, to share with their new neighbors.

As they headed out down the road, basket in hand, Lolli and Polli held flippers as they shuffled down the cobblestone path. First, they stopped off at the Baabaa Salon & Spa and met the Currlycuddle Sheep family. Jake and Emmie were so happy to receive a few treats from their basket. Before leaving, mom Paige had given them one last piece of advice.

“When you are meeting new people, kindness is key but listening is also equally important. It is ok to feel shy – that is totally natural. But try to ask each person you meet a bit about themselves.”

The day flew by with so many fresh faces. From the FitzMoos and Cottonballs through to the Wagadoodles and Quickquacks, everyone was friendly and welcoming. At the end of the day, their basket was empty but their hearts were full.

“I have lost track of how many new friends we have met today” exclaimed Poppi.

“Me too!” said Lolli.

It was hard to sleep that night, no longer where Poppi and Lolli nervous. Instead, they were filled with excitement over plans to meet up with their new pals the next day to play.

Tune in next week!
