The Riverdipper’s have a reputation in Honeysuckle Hollow for being fashionable. If that word is new to you – well let us explain! There are those that dress to dazzle and everywhere they go, heads turn to catch a glimpse of their exciting look. The Riverdipper’s are fashion lovers and they never disappoint with an extravagant feathered hat, a velvet blazer or bedazzled shoes.

They often put on runway shows to entertain their neighbors and even design their own clothes!

When the weather gets cold, the fashion shows have to stop for a time. This season, they want to go out with a bang! As their last show they want to add something special to show their appreciation for the neighbors of Honeysuckle Hollow. The Riverdipper kids Heidi and Humphrey have been thinking up ideas.

“What if we could get all the neighbors to bring something special to the event?” Humphrey thought aloud.

“Hmmm, you might be on to something Humphrey!” said sister Heidi.

The kids got quiet as they continued to think. All the while their parents, Penny and Wade had been organizing in the kitchen. They too were thinking about how to bring something special to the show.

“I might have an idea! There are a bunch of new families in Honeysuckle Hollow, what if we get everyone from the neighborhood to bring something special to make them feel welcome,” said mom Penny.

“Yes!!!” they all cried in agreement.

The news spread to all the neighbors of the Hollow and each began planning something special they could bring. On the day of the show, the new families took their seats in the audience of the fashion show.

“This is what we are going to do,” Mom Penny explained, “We will walk to the end of the runway and give a small gift of appreciation to the new families!”

“A surprise!”, whispered Heidi.

“Yes exactly,” said Humphrey.

As the music began to play the first model took the stage. Wade Riverdipper strutted out, in a 3-piece green suit with a carved wooden cane for panache. Everything seemed like a typical show but once he got to the end of the runway platform, he danced off instead of turning back around. Wade went straight up to the Oliphant family. Out of the inside pocket of his suit jacket, he grabbed a small bouquet of flowers and passed it to the family. The audience erupted in applause. And so, the show continued, with each model dancing off once they reached the end of the runway, giving a small gift to the unsuspecting new neighbors who sat watching.

“I had so much fun today!” said Heidi.

“Me too!” shouted Humphrey.

As the day winded down, all the Riverdippers were happy but tired from their full day. But not too tired for one final family twirl in front of their house and fashion strut through the front door – for good measure.

Tune in next week to meet the Toddlewaddle Penguin Family!
