“Spaghetti for Table 2!” called Toby Curlicue.

He was helping his parents, Maria and Roberto, at Pass-the-Pasta Restaurant.

Toby usually worked in the kitchen but his little sister, Olive, was taking care of these chores, kneading the dough for some delicious pizza.

When the bowl of spaghetti was ready, he brought it out to Emmie Snipadoodles, who was sitting on the outside patio with her family.

“Yaaay!” she cried. Spaghetti was her favorite.

The Snipadoodles Sheep tucked in, chatting until it was closing time.

When it was time to go, Ozzie Snipadoodles headed into the kitchen to thank the chefs for a tasty dinner. “Any time, Ozzie!” beamed Roberto. “You guys are our best customers. We’re very thankful you help keep our business going.”

“Well, speaking of that,” started Ozzie, “do you think you guys would be able to do us a favor?”

“Sure!” answered Maria, as she finished scrubbing the pasta pot. “What do you need?”

“We are putting a float in the parade for the Honeysuckle Hollow Flower Festival,” Ozzie said. “It’s just one week away and we could use some help. Do you have any of these items?”

He handed Roberto a list:

trailer
white tablecloth
A pack of balloons
A bucket of paint and some paintbrushes

“We have all that stuff right here! Let me close up and we’ll get to work!” replied Roberto.

He turned the ‘Open’ sign to ‘Closed’, and Maria headed to the garage behind the restaurant to get their trailer and some balloons.

Toby and Olive Curlicue lifted a white tablecloth in the air and started playing a game, throwing ping-pong balls on it. Jake and Emmie Snipadoodles joined in the fun, giggling.

“OK, kids!” called Maria. “Now it’s time to get to work!”

Everyone gathered around to attach the tablecloth to the trailer. Then, the Snipadoodles took turns painting different things on the float to represent their Baabaa Spa & Hair Salon.

Lucy painted a silver scissors. Ozzie painted a blue shaving razor. Jake painted a pink cape. Emmie painted a green wig.

“Almost ready,” said Ozzie, handing Roberto a paintbrush. “This is a float for all of us now! We want to share it with the Pass-the-Pasta Restaurant!”

Roberto smiled widely and gave Ozzie a friendly pat on the shoulder. Then, the Curlicues took turns painting a different meal on the float.

Maria painted a small salad with tomato, mozzarella and basil. Roberto painted a medium-sized tray of lasagna. Toby painted a large pepperoni pizza. Olive painted a gigantic bowl of mac and cheese.

The two families stood back and admired their work. Sure, it looked a bit odd, with plates of food beside lots of hair accessories. But you know what? It was unique!

Tune in next week to see what happens at the Honeysuckle Hollow Flower Festival!
