1. Make a Movie

Here’s a fantastic use of the phone in your pocket: film a masterpiece! Break out the Li’l Woodzeez figurines and let your child direct the next blockbuster movie of the year. To make the most of this summer activity, encourage your kiddo to learn about each stage of the movie production process with age-appropriate tasks such as writing a script, drawing a storyboard, making props, filming each shot, and putting everything together with free editing software. Don’t forget the popcorn!

2. Create a Summer Scrapbook

Got any craft supplies? Put those stamps, stickers, pipe cleaners, glitters, markers, and other fun things to good use with this creative pastime! All you need to do is provide your little one with a few printed photos and either a notebook or a few sheets of construction paper. You can also add little bits of memorabilia you might have, like movie tickets, award ribbons, or other crafts! Then, start decorating. Kids can spend hours personalizing these heartwarming time capsules with their artwork!

3. Make a No-Bake Treat

Mmh… all the deliciousness of a baked dessert without the stress of a finicky oven or tricky cooking times! No-bake recipes are a great way to bond over sweet treats while being completely hands-on. Little ones can participate the whole way through, measuring, mixing, and rolling the ingredients into a creation you’ll both get to enjoy. Try our no-bake cake pops and edible cookie dough!

4. Make a Sensory Bin

Here’s something fun, creative, and soothing! Sensory bins promote cognitive and fine motor skill development in toddlers, while giving older kiddos a chance to be mindful and 100% imaginative. For this sensory activity, simply fill a small tub or a shallow container with a colorful mix of uncooked rice, beans, pasta, lentils, pebbles, sand, or other small objects. Then, set the scene with Li’l Woodzeez figurines. You can also add scoops and spoons for kids to dig, pour, and explore!

5. Craft Keychains & Jewelry

Perfect for a rainy day, this summer break activity is largely open-ended, which lets kids be creative, experimental, and independent. For basic accessories, all you’ll need is some jewelry wire, fittings, and (the fun part) lots of beads. Visit your local craft shop or dollar store to find fun shapes, colors, letters, and so much more, then put them together into li’l bits of flair your kids will love. This activity is great for gift giving, too!

Be it the weather, your schedule, or whatever the case may be, adding a li’l razzle-dazzle to your days indoors is always a good idea. After all, the best summers are those spent learning and laughing with those we love.
