Clothespin Reindeer

This classic ornament is oh-so easy to make! Simply glue two old-fashioned wooden clothespins together, then glue a third on the end, upside down. Decorate the reindeer with googly eyes, a red pom pom for a nose, and two zig-zagged pieces of brown pipe cleaner for antlers. And voila! Finish by gluing a loop of ribbon onto the reindeer’s back to hang it on the tree.

Easy Snow Globes

Grab a mason jar and make a festive work of art! Let your kiddo choose a small figurine, such as a Bobbleez character, to put inside the snow globe, then use either a glue gun or some super glue to stick the character onto the inside of the jar’s lid (this part should be done by a grown-up). Add some mini pine trees or anything else you’d like to set the scene. Then, fill the jar with cold water. Add a few drops of glycerin and one or two teaspoons of tinsel glitter. Finish by screwing the lid on the jar, using glue to create a perfect seal.

Paper Snowflakes

Here’s a simple craft to make on any afternoon at home! Fold a square sheet of paper in half to form a triangle, then fold it a third and fourth time. To create a more intricate pattern in your snowflake, fold the triangle again, folding one third of the way inwards, creating an arrowhead shape. Cut the bottom pointed ends off to re-create a triangle, then cut small shapes out of the sides of your triangle as you like. Unfold the triangle and discover a beautiful snowflake you can put on display.

Glass Ornaments

Are your kiddos ready to work with glass? Clear glass ornaments are wonderful for making beautiful and unique creations you’ll want to keep forever. Coat their insides with acrylic paint, use them as a canvas, stuff them with pom poms, feathers, photographs, seashells, or tinsel, wrap them in ribbons or yarn, or create miniature terrariums with your favorite animal characters. The sky’s the limit!

Wonderful Wrapping

Give this year’s presents a personal touch with your very own wrapping paper! Start with a plain roll of postal wrapping paper, cut a large piece, then tape the corners onto a work surface and get creative. Think stickers, stamps, and crayons. If you’re ready for a li’l mess, try working with paint or glitter. You can also use festive cookie cutters as stencils!
