Famileez of the Month: The Van North Polar Bears

Family of the Month Van Norths
Meet the Van North Polar Bears

Li’l Woodzeez is celebrating its 15th anniversary! Each month of this year, we’ll be taking a closer look at one chosen family and recognizing all the things that make it special. We want to give a big round of applause to all the wonderful Famileez that make up our beloved town of Honeysuckle Hollow!

This January, we’re putting a spotlight on the Van North Polar Bears. Have you met them before? Don’t be shy – come and say hello!

In this family of four, there’s Mom Annana, Dad Oslo, and kids Siku and Sesi. Together, these friendly bears run the Honeysuckle Hollow Safety Department! They teach everyone how to stay safe. They shovel snow, they make sure that construction workers wear hard hats, and they even put out fires! The Van Norths have an incredible job here in Honeysuckle Hollow.

  • Polar Brrrs. The Van North Polar Bears lived in the Great White North before moving to Honeysuckle Hollow! There, they loved to watch the northern nights after a day of playing in the snow.
  • Sun & Snow. In their spare time, the Van Norths love to go skiing, skating, and sledding, of course! Winter activities help to keep them feeling warm. In the summertime, though, you can find them surfing at the Sunshine Tiki Hut. The beach is the place to be when it’s hot n’ sunny.
  • Favorite Foods. The Van Norths love homemade crepes with whipped cream and maple syrup. Add a few fresh berries, and you’ve got a big plateful of yum!
  • Northern Traditions. Oslo loves to go ice fishing. He brought this tradition with him from the north and he has taught many other Woodzeez how to do it, too!
  • Hidden Talents. Siku and Sesi are Honeysuckle Hollow’s undefeated champions at building snow forts! They love to play this game with all their Li’l Woodzeez friends as soon as it snows.

Did you know?

In Inuktitut, the Inuit language, Siku means “ice” and Sesi means “snow!” Depending on the dialect, there are as many as 53 different words for snow in Inuktitut. Anana means “mother!”

Oslo, on the other hand, is a name known for the capital of Norway. They have snowy winters there, too!
