Toby Curlicue is an explorer. Each year he plans a trip to somewhere new and he is good at packing all the right essentials. His Honeysuckle neighbors often get postcards from far off places with palm trees or mountains or beautiful buildings with Toby’s signature on the back. But this year, Toby is doing things a bit differently. Toby wants to save a bit and has decided to do a staycation for the very first time! He is going to approach his surroundings like a tourist and soak in the best that Honeysuckle Hollow has to offer! He has decided to make a journal of his daily adventures.
Day 1 –Travel Log
Today I went to the Honeysuckle Market Square! It is very lovely there and I don’t think I have ever really appreciated how spacious it is. I picked up a few groceries for the road and headed toward the town square. I spotted Wally Whiskerelli by the pond and once he saw me with a map of Honeysuckle Hollow, he asked if I wanted to join him on this boat to get a special tour of the town. I was so happy to! I jumped right in – with my life jacket of course! – and Wally took me all around the pond. It was calm and we could see from the boat all the neighbors of HH going about their day on the shore.
Day 2 – Travel Log
I got a bit of a tan yesterday from so much time in the sun. Today I will stay on land and have decided to meet up with my friend, Kelly Quickquack. We decided to take photos of Honeysuckle Hollow to create a visual scrapbook of their favorite spots. First, we popped into Baabaa Spa and Hair Salon. I got a quick pedicure while Kelly took photos of some wigs around the salon. Next we popped into the Li’l Petals Flower Shop and said hello to the Tailfeathers. Kelly and I took some very artsy shots posing with different bouquets of flowers and peeking through trees. We started to feel a bit hungry and decided to go for soft serve ice creams at the Honeysuckle Sweets & Treats. What a great day.
Day 3 – Travel Log
Today is the last day of my vacation staycation! I have decided to do what I love most – relax!! Yesterday I bought a big jug of lemonade from the lemonade stand in Honeysuckle Hollow and I am going to fill up my floaty and take a soak in my backyard pool and enjoy sipping it all day! I took out a few different books from the local library and a perfect spot in the shade will be nice to read in the afternoon. After the week’s events, it has been so nice to rediscover my neighborhood and savor the sights in my own backyard. Perhaps a staycation next year?
